February 1, 2024 - Last Day to Pay Taxes Without Penalty

Dear Taxpayer,

The Second installments of Real Estate and Personal Property AND Motor Vehicle Supplemental bills will become due January 1, 2024. If you registered a vehicle between October 1, 2022 and July 31, 2023 you can expect to receive a Motor Vehicle Supplemental bill.

No bills were mailed for second installments due. Use the “2nd B Payment” portion of the original bill to send with your payment. If you don’t have it, you may send a check with your name and address, and we should be able to find your account. Please include a phone number on your check in case we have to contact you.

This year’s Supplemental Motor Vehicle tax bills will be mailed on December 22, 2023, and they will be available to view and pay on our website (https://www.newhartfordct.gov). The bills are being prepared and mailed by our data processing vendor, so the tax office will not have access to any of the bills before they are put into the mail. If you are supposed to receive any credits not printed on your bill, please call the tax office prior to paying.

If not paid on or before February 1, 2024 the entire tax becomes delinquent from January 1. USPS postmarks are accepted as a payment date.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHECKS ARE MADE OUT CORRECTLY – Date, Dollar amounts, Legal tender line AND SIGNATURES. If there are any errors, checks are returned. IF A PHONE NUMBER IS available, we will try to contact you. BE AWARE THAT IF CHECKS ARE RETURNED DUE TO ERRORS AND ARE NOT RECEIVED BEFORE THE DUE DATE, INTEREST WILL BE ADDED.

Any questions about assessments or exemptions should be directed to the Assessor at 860-379-5235 or assessor@newhartfordct.gov. If you have disposed of a motor vehicle you are being billed for, please call the Assessor’s office.

Include a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope for receipts.

This office does not accept payments nor have access to information pertaining to the Fire Districts. Please direct any Fire District questions to your Fire District tax collector.

Thank you,

Tolly Gibbs, CCMC
