The 2025 Grand List mill rate was set at the Board of Finance Regular Meeting held on Tuesday May 12, 2026.

The Assessor has the responsibility to discover, list and value all Real Estate, Motor Vehicles and Personal Property located within the Town of New Hartford. The primary job responsibility of the Assessor is to gather all taxable and exempt property in the Town of New Hartford, to maintain and create the annual Grand List, administer Public Act 490, and run tax relief programs and exemptions. These responsibilities are done in accordance with Connecticut State Statutes, Rules and Regulations of the Office of Policy and Management for the State of Connecticut and local ordinances.This information is used by the Board of Finance to help determine the mill rate to prepare tax bills.
The Assessor is responsible for providing and maintaining the public with up-to-date information on all properties including land and improvements, update land maps, and apply changes in ownership within the Town of New Hartford. The office will annually inspect and value activity for properties who have recent or open permits. GIS and property record card data can be found on the "Property Information / Maps" tab on the left.
All assessments are based on the 70% value in accordance with provision of the Connecticut General Statues. The 2025 Grand List mill rate is 27.57 mills. Taxes are based on the assessment multiplied by the town mill rate. To calculate taxes use your assessment (70% value) and multiple it by the town's mill rate (2025 Grand List 27.57).
