The Building Inspector for the Town of New Hartford is GERARD (Jerry) MONROE.
He comes to New Hartford having years of experience as a builder himself, therefore, he is extremely familiar with all aspects of construction.
Please note that due to a heavy volume of permits being processed; immediate turn around is not something that you can count on. No work can begin without a signed permit.
Jerry is the full time Building Inspector for the Town of New Hartford. Jerry's role as Inspector requires him to be out of the office for a great portion of the day. If you have a specific question - it is best to call ahead and set up an appointment (860-379-8830) to speak directly with him.
Permits (paperwork) can be completed any time during Town Hall office hours - Jerry does not need to be present for a permit to be completed. However, NO WORK can be started without a SIGNED and APPROVED building permit.
Completing an application for a permit is not authorization to begin work. You MUST wait for your permit to be approved prior to starting any work.
ALL CONTRACTORS MUST PROVIDE PROOF OF LICENSE AND CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE
(Please use the links on the left side of this page in order to access permits)
The Building Official works with home owners, contractors, builders, and General Contractors for plan reviews, permits and on-site inspections to determine compliance with the Connecticut Building Code.
