Blind Exemption
The Town of New Hartford offers, to qualifying taxpayers, both a state and local blind exemption. Please see criteria below:
Property owners who are residents of the State of Connecticut that are deemed to be legally blind per the definition outlined in the Connecticut General Statutes Sec. 12‐92, are eligible to receive a $3,000 property tax assessment exemption. Any individual seeking to receive the Blind exemption must submit proof of blindness i.e. “Certificate of Legal Blindness”, to the Assessor’s office prior to October 1st.
