Secretary of the State Denise Merrill mailed every registered Democrat and Republican in the state an application that they will need to fill out and return in order to obtain an absentee ballot. That application, which was sent via U.S. Postal Service, included a postage paid return envelope. Beginning July 21, 2020, all voters who requested an absentee ballot will receive the ballots in the mail, which will also include a postage paid return envelope.  New Hartford also has a secure ballot drop box, located near the back entrance to Town Hall, to allow voters to deliver their absentee ballots in person without close personal contact. For those who would still like to appear in person to cast their vote, our polling locations will remain open on Primary Day - August 11, 2020, however, the ability to vote absentee will ensure that the democratic process continues safely and securely.

If you did not receive an application or have misplaced it, an Absentee Ballot Application form may be printed from this site or obtained from the Town Clerk's office either in person or through the mail.  Completed applications must be returned to the Town Clerk's office of the town where the applicant is an elector.  Ballots must be given or mailed directly to the applicant; they may not be given to another person for delivery to the applicant.  Visit the Town Clerk page for additional information or call 860-379-5037.

Absentee Ballots can be returned in person to the Town Clerk's office during normal office hours, mailed to PO Box 426 or deposited in the new white drop box pictured above.  Ballots must be received by 8 pm on Primary Day - August 11, 2020 in order to be counted.  For those residents who have previously voted by absentee ballot, the ballot package sent from the mailing house may look different from what you have received in the past.  Please view the sample ballots below if you are unsure if you received the correct ballot.
